Fed up with her life and particularly her husband, our protagonist is in the midst of a life changing move that has upset the apple cart in a major way. She appears to want a quickie divorce so that she might spend time with her new-found friend Rella. Her husband appears to be at a loss, and trying desperately to make sense of a side of his wife he’s never seen.
My Thoughts and Feelings About This Monologue
This is monologue is a virtual tempest of emotion as our character weaves back and forth between joy, anger, and indifference. She is literal and complicated all at once, in the way she leaves no room for opposition, and yet appears to have a wide range of emotional responses within that framework. Mad at and loving life all at the same time seems perfectly normal to her.
